Meh: Tot Bowl, Cucumber Peanut Mint Salad
If you drink, I drink. We drink.
Huckleberry & Peach Soda: handmade (slap dat mint). Very sweet, good balance of flavors. Blackberry chunks visible. Would definitely order again.
Savory
Aight so this is a biscuit house. Owned by the epitome of down home southern food, Cracker Barrel (who knows some dang biscuits). But apparently in the process of trying to go all fancy, they forgot how to make a good biscuit. #andfancywasmyname #iheartreba
Not to go into biscuit 101, but....... hard, unbuttered, nonflaky biscuits don't belong in the South. Or anywhere.
Pork Rambler: Our favorite one. Though the biscuit itself was a disappointment, the toppings made up for it. It was a nice balance of salty and sweet due to the combo of pork tenderloin, blackberry butter, and messy fried onion straws. Megan ate all of hers, and she never finishes anything. 'nough said.
Hollerback Club: It was ok. Topping off the not great biscuit was bacon, guac, fried green tomato, and hollerback sauce. This biscuit ain't no hollaback gurl. The hollerback sauce did not meet expectations. It was straight up pepper. Plus in Shelby's head all special sauces should be Chick-fil-a sauce, so it was doomed from the start. Can I get an amen? The guac was nothing special, but the fried green tomato was fried perfectly. Definitely won't be ordering this again.
Chicken. Set. Go.: wtf is up with this name? The chicken was actually pretty good, not heavily breaded and nice flavor. Pimento cheese had mixed reviews, it's not their fault that Megan doesn't like pimento cheese. But she liked it #mikeylikesit. Sorghum and jalapenos, not worth mentioning.
Tot Bowl: bacon, cheddar, green onion, and hollerback sauce. We were really excited about tots, because who isn't? But they just threw the ingredients in a bowl and brought them to our table. #thataintnochickfilasauce
Sweet
Well, there was a Jeni's across the street. So... we couldn't resist. Gooey butter cake flavor had too many cake pieces, but this post isn't about Jeni's.
"In conclusion"
Live in the area and need a brunch place before hitting up Nordstrom Rack? Great, eat here if there isn't a line. Visiting Nashville and looking for a restaurant reco? Don't come here. When you first walk in, it's like you're walking into the Publix brand of Biscuit Love (we didn't love their biscuits either, but that place is cute). Maybe we don't like biscuits... but that's not true. We must be side biscuit kind of girls, not main biscuit kind of girls. #keepingitclassyontheside
Bring back those delicious Cracker Barrel biscuits and y'all will be perfect!
