RATINGS
Atmosphere: 4/5 (cool murals/graffiti)
Food: 3/5
Parking: 1/5 (insert a thousand expletives for Shelby having to park in an unlit sketchy lot and walk through a Mapco gas station #whitegirlproblems). Megan gives it a 4/5, she was able to score a spot in their tiny lot.
THINGS TO KNOW
Reservations: No
Must Try: Tzatziki, GReKo Street Fries, Greek Orange Soda
Meh: Kotosoupa (chicken soup)
Sips
Greek Soda (Orange Flavor and Sour Cherry flavor): Delicious. We liked the orange a little more than the sour cherry. Cherry was sour at first, but then transitioned to cherry pie filling. Orange tasted like European Fanta, which Megan loooves. Which makes sense, as Greece is part of Europe. #wholovesorangesoda #kellovesorangesoda
Savory
Pork Souvlaki: marinated with oregano and lemon. Good flavor, moist, just wish it had a dipping sauce.
Grilled Octopus: with herbs, olive oil, and lemon. Um, yeah. It kind of felt like we were eating Ursula's tentacles. and it left a bad taste in our mouth like she did. #poorunfortunatesouls The redeeming quality was the dipping sauce. Tastes like the bread dipping sauce at Carrabba's ... aka any Italian restaurant. And that stuff is always addicting. Would explore other menu options next time, like the half chicken.
April ordered the chicken pita (with red onion, paprika, tomato, and taziki sauce). We only got a couple bites so can't give it a full review. But she also didn't say much so....
Tzatziki: homemade traditional yogurt, dill, cucumber, garlic, evoo, grilled pita. If you love tzatziki sauce you will find this delicious. Definitely delivered on expectations and couldn't stop eating it.
GReKo Street Fries: handcut fries with oregano, mizithra cheese. Best thing on the menu. Megan was yelling for ketchup at the beginning of the meal, but never actually needed it. The Carrabba's dipping sauce was way better with the fries than with Ursula. These are a must order, don't trade out the fries like you do at every other restaurant.
Kotosoupa (chicken soup): Megan loved it. At the beginning. But as the story progressed Shelby mentioned that it tasted very earthy. And by earthy we mean dirt. And as the story ended, Megan didn't like it. #dirtonmyboots ... not in my soup.
In Conclusion
If you find parking, are in the mood for fries, and feel a little bit like Kel, this is your place. If you have to walk through the Mapco parking lot in the dark, keep driving over to Pharmacy. They also have fries and orange soda. But if you're celebrating being in the Athens of the South and appreciate Grecian murals and the taste of cucumber, check out the graffittied walls of GReKo.
