RATINGS

Atmosphere: 5/5

Food: 2/5 *Caveat: we are not the type of people that this restaurant is intended for. We are hardcore carnivores and enjoy a hearty helping of GMO's. If you are pro-organic, vegan, etc. you would probably rate the food much higher

Parking: 4/5. They have their own parking lot, but it is small. The auto shop across the street sends rude employees to yell at you if you park there.

THINGS TO KNOW

Reservations: No

Must Try: Strawberry Colada (Shelby's smoothie), Purple Rain (Megan's smoothie), Hummus

Meh: Avocado Toast, Smoked Salmon Cracked Eggs

Sips

Strawberry Colada: pineapple coconut water, coconut meat, strawberry, chia, matcha. Good flavor, a tropical smoothie in the middle of Nashville. The perfect post workout beverage (how cool is it that they sometimes offer free exercise classes here?!)

Purple Rain: coconut water, coconut meat, blueberries, banana, maca, agave. Shelby liked this. Megan thought it was meh, but she doesn't like smoothies with banana (ugh so picky). Was also chalky in texture, maybe from the maca? Fun fact: maca is a plant from Peru, supposedly good for hormone balance, energy, mood, and immune system (its texture certainly didn't boost Megan's mood), though the color was beautiful. #missyouprince

Help: turmeric, ginger, grapefruit, honey (disease fighting, anti-inflammatory, allergy relief). This drink elicited more of a response than shitty tequila shots, but at least those usually come with a squeeze of lime and a good time #tequilamakesyourclothesfalloff If this is what "help" tastes like, we don't want it #wedontneednohelp #stongindependentwomen It tastes terrible. Shelby almost blacked out afterwards. If you believe in elixirs, may the odds be ever in your favor. We decided to go for it because we are having middle Tennessee allergy issues, but we will be sticking to Zyrtec. #overthecollegedays

Savory

Smoked Salmon Cracked Eggs: smoked salmon, Still Well Farm eggs, red onion, herbs w/ a side of mustard creme fraiche, house-made spicy pickles & toast points. This was Alex's, and he thought it was super duper bland, which says a lot coming from him. Shelby and Megan agree that it was bland. I mean it was toast, eggs, and salmon, but you could barely taste the salmon. *shrugs shoulders*

Avocado Toast: Sam's charred pugliese, ricotta, sprouts, pepitas, avocado, salsa verde, side of seasonal fruit. Beautiful plate presentation. Shelby may have set herself up for failure on this one. I mean, it is avocado toast. But to be clear, her homemade rendition seasoned with just salt and pepper (non-organic) tastes better than this. *shoulder shrugs all around*

Curry Bowl: sweet potato, chickpeas, coconut curry, market greens, cauliflower, raisins, pecans, topped w/ Still Well Farm sunny egg. Expectation: flavor explosion. Reality: *shoulder shrug* . It had good flavor, it just needed to be amplified by ten. You shouldn't be searching for flavor in a curry bowl, it should punch you in the face. This carnivore didn't miss the meat, she just needed more flavor.

Free

(free snacks after the free workout class, how awesome is that?)

Overnight Oats: rolled oats, chia seeds, apple, dried fruit, almond milk, housemade cardamom granola. Megan can't comment on this one, because she doesn't like 'apple things'. (ick millennials, jkjk we are them). Alex didn't acknowledge their existence, he had tunnel vision on the hummus, more on that later. Shelby doesn't usually enjoy overnight oats (it's a texture thing), but she really enjoyed these. Good flavor and the apples added nice textural diversity.

Hummus: ingredients unknown.... probably chickpeas and tahini? Alex and Shelby battled over the pieces of bread and veggies to dip in this hummus. It was delicious. Megan: it was hummus.

In Conclusion

The most adorable place we have ever been. Kudos on the decor. If you are looking for great food presentation and care about how ethically and organically all the ingredients were raised, you will love this place. If GMO's make your world go 'round, and flavor is a way of life, this isn't the place for you. But we love the free workout classes and what they are doing for the community. We will definitely be back for the exercise and post workout snack.... and then we'll be heading to Hugh Baby's for 'real food'. #keepinitreal
